Student Voice – Talent & Impact!

The winners and finalists of the 2022 Council on business & Society Student CSR article competition have now been officially nominated. Warm thanks to all the students and their submissions throughout the member schools of the CoBS for their effort, commitment, enthusiasm and talent. This year’s competition saw an extremely high level of quality and maturity in the articles – something that made the juries’ selection all the more difficult. Congratulations to the winners, runners-up and finalists. And finally, a thank you to all the staff and faculty teams within the CoBS Schools for their expert coordination and time spent on the juries.

The number of entries for this year’s competition was high – the quality of the submissions too. It was interesting to note that among the pressing issues covered by the faculty topics set for the articles, three of them stood out as preferences (perhaps even concerns) for the students judging from the number of submissions on these subjects: Greenflation, net-zero emissions, and the future of work impacted by AI and the digital transformation.

The challenges to our society and planet are particularly complex and pressing in our current times, and the CoBS can only congratulate and encourage our students in taking on the role of responsible leaders – able to take perspective on this complexity, form concise and educated conclusions, and make objective and responsible decisions for the good of business that itself is for the good of society and planet. With the recent membership to the Council on Business & Society of Stellenbosch Business School, South Africa, we are confident that the new school will add to the impact, pertinence and geographical reach of the CoBS and we look forward to their student participation in next year’s Council on Business & Society Student CSR Article Competition.

With many thanks and very best wishes,

Prof. Adrian Zicari and Tom Gamble, Academic and Executive Directors, Council on Business & Society.
