This colossal sum stacks up through a number of outcomes resulting from hiding knowledge: the loss of innovation that might just make the edge over the competitors, undisclosed information needed for key decisions, eroded motivation among the workforce leading to under-performance, in-house distrust and the creation of silos and clans among the workforce that ultimately leads to non-cooperation and a stale working atmosphere.
So how can firms encourage their managers and staff to open up and practise knowledge sharing instead?
