Welcome to the 2020 Christmas download edition of the Council on Business & Society Global Voice magazine #16! This issue features 17 articles from 28 contributors – both professors from the CoBS member schools, students, practitioners, and guest academics from other leading higher education institutions around the globe.

Areas covered in this issue include IT and how it can contribute to sustainability via innovative company working arrangements, the role of governance in helping their organisations adapt to climate change, employee wellness and how to deal with long working hours, how foreign investment can help the fight against poverty, CSR from Japanese and Chinese perspectives, the contested commons in Tunisia, migrant communities and entrepreneurship, and a spotlight on corporate inclusivity drawn from the Council’s collaborative study and report with the American Chamber of Commerce in Paris.

This wonderfully diverse set of contributions and knowledge reflects the Council’s very mission to offer a unique multicultural, global and local perspective on business and society issues to the wider public internationally. And this theme is also mirrored in the sub-title to the Christmas issue: And we were One.

2020, with all its upheavals and challenges, has more than ever highlighted the link between humanity, the animal kingdom and the planet we share. There have no doubt been moments of loneliness and trial and sadness, though also determination, hope and happiness. The words of the superb American poetess Mary Oliver in her poem Wild Geese – which you are invited to read and savour – have perhaps never rung truer when these noble creatures, the geese high up in the clean, blue sky, call to us announcing our place in the family of things.

So download and enjoy this Christmas issue of Global Voice magazine. Together at the CoBS, we wish you, our readers, a joyful festive season and safe keeping for yourselves and families.
