The CoBS: Summer Break ‘Thank You’ Dear Readers, It’s time for a summer break “thank you” from the CoBS Editorial Team and all the wonderful faculty, student and practitioner contributors to CoBS Insights over the last academic year. Thanks for checking out the blog, reading our articles, dropping us a line with your comments and continuing to come back to the site in an ever-growing community. For those of you who are new to the site, the Council on Business & Society – or “the CoBS” as we like to call it – is a global alliance of schools of business and management, leaders in their respective countries, recognized for their outstanding research and teaching, and all dedicated to providing education for tomorrow’s responsible leaders and businesses. The CoBS and the new way of doing business Responsible leadership and business practices means decision-making, practices and innovations based on profit, but also benefit and giving back for your stakeholders – whether your teams, suppliers, customers, local communities, economies, and very importantly the Planet. It involves ethical thinking and exemplary behaviour. It calls for measurement: not only of results, but of cost to employee health, impact on the community, the environment, and natural resources. It calls for listening – to your teams, suppliers, local authorities and including them. It involves taking advantage of the extraordinary wealth of diversity in people – their skills, backgrounds, cultures, languages and gender – so important for innovation and the creation of value. And it requires businesses to go beyond the short-term profit mindset of taking and looking towards giving back to ensure the longevity and sustainability of the company and everything connected to it – its ecosystem. So, if you believe as we do that business can positively contribute to improving society and the planet, keep on following us, take advantage of the research and expertise we can offer you, have a voice through an article you might have written, or explore and apply for the top-ranked international programmes our schools provide.
